How to Apply Flea Powder to your pet
When using any type of flea powder on your pet, do not let your pet ingest the powder of any sort. This can be tricky with pets that groom themselves, such as cats and ferrets. With dogs, if you brush the powder in, your dog will not ingest much of the powder.
-
Apply the flea powder sparingly to you pet's coat by brushing backward with your hand or the comb
-
Sprinkling the flea control powder into the base of the hairs, especially on the neck, back and belly.
-
After application of the flea powder, put your dog or cat friend outside for a while so the dog flea or cat flea can vacate in the yard and not in your house. Brush through your dog or cat's coat to remove any dead fleas
-
To combat severe flea infestation, you may have to use the flea control powder several times a week.

What the diatomaceous earth does is that it slices through the coat of the fleas and as such causing dehydration and eventually causes death of the fleas, larvae and eggs. As DE is a natural product, it is not harmful to pets even if they ingest any of it. As such, it is still a popular choice among pet owners.
