Soap Making Books
"The Everything SoapMaking
Book"
“The Everything Soapmaking Book”, revised and updated, has been hailed as a complete guide to
making all kinds of soaps from bath soaps to beautiful, aromatic gifts right in the comfort of your won
home.
Written by Alicia Grosso, “The Everything Soapmaking Book” comes with more than 300
pages of contents providing tons of information and suggestions for anyone who is keen to go in depth on soap
making. With her decade long experience in soap making and teaching in soap making classes and workshops, Alicia
takes any aspiring soap maker through every step of the soap making process including buying the right kind of soap
making equipment, securing the right types of ingredients, developing unique soap recipes on their own, how to add
colors and scents and how to artistically make soaps into various shapes and sizes.
Laid out in an organized way and easy to follow, the book started off with a long introduction on soap making
covering on details like how to set up and make soap safely. This is particularly helpful to beginners and somehow
helps to alleviate the fear one might have in dealing with lye, a chemical (sodium hydroxide) used in making
soaps.
It then goes into the various processes in soap making like the cold process, the hot process and the making of
liquid and transparent soaps. All processes are explained very well and exhaustively, making it more fun than scary
for its readers. All the recipes provided are simple enough that even a novice soap maker can do with
confidence.
One complaint though is the “information overload” particularly for beginners. Some readers may find the vast
amount of information provided in this book too overwhelming.
On the whole, this is a great book and well worth the price for the amount of information it provides. To make
it even better, Amazon is offering a discount plus free shipping if you buy from them. Here’s the link to
